With reference to Colonial Office letter No.

30035/27 of April 28th last, I enclose herewith, copy

of a letter from Lamps on covering one sent by him to

Mr. Brenan regarding Sir C. Clementi's criticisms of

the latter's action.

We agree with Lampson that a policy of peace

at any price is clearly the right one, and I think the

incident can now be regarded as closed.
